Transportation Guide for LA Travelers

When you visit Los Angeles, your trip will be sure to include a number of excursions and adventures to various parts of the city. Staying at an LA Hotel means that you’ll be conveniently located to popular destinations in LA. Even if you are staying in the city, Los Angeles is also known for its sprawling layout and it is likely that all the places you want to explore in the city will be a ways away form each other. Despite the fact that Los Angeles covers a wide range of space, there are ways for you to get around this. Use this handy guide to transportation when exploring the city.

While many people might complain about the lack of a public transportation system in LA, the fact of the matter is that you can get to a wide range of destinations by using the LA METRO system. For first time users, here’s some things you should know. To ride the metro, you’ll need a TAP Card, which are reusable and refillable cards that you can use to get onto the Metro. A TAP card is available at all Metro Rail stations for a small surcharge of $1. Fill your TAP card up with a preset amount or get a day pass. A single ride, regardless of your final destination, is only $1.75.

Another option to get around the city is to use the popular app Uber or Lyft. The ride sharing app has recently grown in popularity and there are always drivers around in the city of LA. Consider the pool option where you can share a ride with others and save money while you’re at it! Simply download the app on your phone and get around with ease.

The bus is another option that can get you around the city. Believe it or not, there are around 200 different bus lines in the city. This means that if you need to get somewhere, you can likely get there through the bus. Hop on one of the Metro Rapid Buses, which are painted blue, as these buses stop less frequently and have special sensors on them that keep lights green when the bus approaches.

Last but not least, if you don’t want to wait for a bus or the metro, travel the old fashioned way and hail a taxi. There are a number of taxis that you can find, specifically the LA Yellow Cab company. With all these ways to get around, visiting all the places you want to see is easier than ever!
