Chinatown is a great place to celebrate Chinese New Year. Join the city for the 120th annual Golden Dragon Parade, which begins at the intersection of Hill and Ord Street. If you love parades, this parade is actually one of the oldest of its kind in America! The parade takes place from 1-3pm with festivities afterwards!
Looking for a family friendly way to celebrate the Year of the Rat? Head over to Universal Studios where they will have a variety of events taking place at Universal Plaza located in the park. Featuring beautiful decorations, fun interactive events with stars from Kung Fu Panda and more, it will be sure to be a festive and fun event for the whole family.
On January 19th, come out to the American, one of the most popular outdoor shopping destinations in LA, to celebrate the Lunar New Year. From 2pm – 5pm, there will be gourmet food offered, lively performances as well as cultural activities held on The Green. This event is free and open to the public!
If you head over to Chinatown, be sure to stop at the Thien Hau Temple for the Chinese New Year. To celebrate this holiday, they will host a midnight ceremony at the temple. Locals come to make offerings to the deities, burn incense for good fortune and set fireworks to awaken the spirits. Festivities began at 10pm.
