With so many different cultures in Los Angeles, there is always something new and exciting to experience. One upcoming event is the Chinese Lunar New Year Los Angeles parade. In fact, this year, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce LA is proud to present the 119th Annual Golden Dragon Parade. Every years, thousands of individuals line the parade route to to witness the fun and excitement of the Golden Dragon Parade. This year, the parade will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 1pm. The Chinese New Year, or the Lunar New Year, is an exciting and important Chinese festival that is celebrated at the beginning of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. The first day of the New Year falls on the new moon between January 21st and February 20th. This Lunar New year, partake in the celebration and head to the central plaza in Chinatown for the festival and parade. The days festivities will take place from 12pm-8pm and admission is FREE. During the celebration, there will be entertainment such as acrobatic acts and a traditional Lion Dance troupe. Enjoy various craft vendors and family fun entertainment such as face painting, magic shows, calligraphy stations and more. There will also be Food Trucks present at the festival.
The 119th Annual Golden Dragon Parade will take place from 1-3pm. The parade route will begin at the intersection of Hill Street and Ord Street. Since the 1980s, the Golden Dragon Parade has increased in size and today, the parade is happy to present nearly two dozen floats, marching bands, local business leaders, government officials and more. While you can simply stand along sidewalks that line the parade route for free, you can also purchase tickets for reserved grandstand seating. Grandstand tickets will allow for the most comfort and best viewing options of the parade.
