Griffith Park might be known as the home of the Griffith Observatory, but it also houses a number of hiking trails that are great for any level of hiker. One popular hike that the park offers is the West Griffith Observatory Trail. This easy trail is a quick 2 mile round trip trail that will take about 1 hour. The trail has a 580 foot elevation gain and along the way offers beautiful views of city including sights of the Hollywood Sign! The trail will take you all the way to the Griffith Observatory where you can enjoy some time at this FREE destination.
Speaking of the Hollywood sign, there are a number of trails that you can choose from if you’re hoping to get stellar views of the sign – and did we mention great photo opportunities? There are three main trails that guests can take ranging from easy, moderate, and difficult. The easy option is the Mt. Hollywood Trail. This hike is a great option for families as children will be able to enjoy the trail as well. The trail also offers an unforgettable side view of the Hollywood Sign.
Runyon Canyon is probably one of the most popular trails in the area. It’s a 3 mile round trip trail that has an elevation gain of 675 feet. During the 1.5 hour hike, you might even spot some celebrities as the trail has been known for celebrity sightings as they go out for a jog or hike! The route is along an unpaved fire road so it’s mostly a well paved road. There are also a few steep areas but overall, the route is easy.
